Four Week INTENSIVE ESL + VIP
Interns improve their English skills and learn about American business practice. Compass USA offers a four week intensive English course with private tutors in Denver and Spokane (other locations available upon request) that includes
PER WEEK (4 week program)
6 hours of intensive English instruction with a private tutor,
10 hours of practice with a conversation pal
20 hours of volunteer internship experience per week.
Participants can extend their internship after they complete the English instruction phase of the program for up to twelve weeks total. We are also able to extend the intensive English program for up to 12 weeks. Participate in a homestay during the intensive English language program and the internship.
Compass USA provides the opportunity for
international students to participate in a
volunteer internship program for 4—12 weeks.
Serious participants, with strong English conversation skills learn about the American business culture in a professional nonprofit setting.
Participants select a specific career interest and the location of the internship. They are introduced to the American culture and English language by living with host families and to the American business culture by working in a nonprofit business setting. Positions and responsibilities vary; participants work 15-40 hours per week.
Participation in Compass USA internships is volunteer. It is a unique and serious business opportunity. Interns will act and be treated as professionals.
DATES: Intern selects dates for 4-12 week internships
PARTICIPANTS: 18 years & older with excellent English- speaking proficiency, high school graduate pursuing college studies
VISAS: Participants may participate with a visa waiver or tourist category of visa. Assistance with J-1 Visas available in cooperation with Interexchange.
LODGING: Reside with volunteer host family or alternative lodging available upon request. You can also participate in the internship only and stay with friends or family of your own.
TRANSPORTATION: Intern is responsible for transportation to and from the internship. Coordinators provide assistance with transportation arrangements.
MEALS: Meals are provided in the host family home. Lunches and other meals consumed outside of the home are the participant's responsibility
ASSISTANCE: Local coordinators conduct homestay and business orientations. Staff provides assistance 24/7.
Administrative duties to help their colleagues with daily tasks common in all businesses.
Work on professional projects that reflect their career interests that will lead to future success on their chosen career paths. from a professional in action.
Shadow an American career professional throughout the workday in a variety of settings - see and learn from a professional in action.
