Compass USA offers a variety of customized Study Tours based upon your group's learning needs. These educational experiences can be modified to meet your learning interests or we can create exciting new programs just for you!
Learning on Location:
A Compass USA STUDY Tour is a select opportunity for groups of youth or adults to learn and travel while still having fun as they see, discuss, and experience history, art, science, and the United States for themselves on our unique educational journeys.
We specialize in designing tours to compliment schools' and groups' specific learning needs and interests. Diversity in America, College Campus Tours, Age of Revolution and Democracy, Outdoor Adventure & Scientific Exploration, Native
Americans & Archeological Investigation to name a few. These can be combined with a group homestay program or extended to 2-3-4 weeks to create an exciting Study and Language Tour experience.
We are committed to providing a safe and enjoyable experience for all participants. All groups are led by chaperones who are experts on travel and safety in the United States. In addition, educational experts travel and/or meet with the participants on the study tour to provide the educational expertise that will effectively benefit their learning needs.

AMERICAN COLLEGE TOURS: Tour large and small universities to identify the college that will meet the participants' education needs. Learn the ins and outs of the application procedures, language and school prerequisites, funding and admission requirements for foreign students. Stay in college dormitories and meet American college students. East coast and west coast tours are tailored to meet group needs and interests. Location determined by the course of study

ARTS, CULTURE & LITERATURE: Integrated Studies of American Culture Through the Arts: Investigate different genres, artists and writers. Create your own "masterpiece" as you study with experienced artists. May be combined with English language instruction and conversation enhancement.
AMERICAN ART, FILM, & LITERATURE- integrated study of American culture based on a particular genre or era of your choice.
FILMMAKING on LOCATION - visit Hollywood to observe and tour a large studio and a smaller, private studio. Visit a major film school and work with filmmakers to create your own film "on location" outside of Hollywood.
PHOTOGRAPHY on LOCATION - work with experienced photographers to photograph and
develop your own pictures on location in the United States. Visit and observe experienced photographers in action to further your study of composition and development practice. Genre and location is up to you!
ART on LOCATION - Study art in a location of your choice with the help of artistic mentors. Paint, sketch, and sculpt on location.
AMERICAN ART & MUSIC - Learn about American culture through the study of art and music from a particular era or in a particular location.

Learn U.S. History and Geography in the locations where historical events took place.
AMERICAN DIVERSITY: Ellis Island, Immigration and 20th Century New York Neighborhoods: Study diversity, civil rights, and immigration on Ellis Island and in the neighborhoods of New York City.
THE SOUTH:
PLANTATIONS TO JAZZ-A RETROSPECTIVE - Study the roots of American jazz and blues to learn about American diversity,
culture, slavery, and opportunity in New Orleans and historical regions of the American South.
FREEDOM TRAIN & AMERICAN CIVIL RIGHTS - Follow the Freedom Train to discover the roots of oppression and learn about the people and events that started and continue to contribute to inclusion and enhanced civil rights for all individuals in the USA.
AMERICAN HISTORY: Select a particular time period of interest . Visit and learn American history in the locations where historical events actually took place. Meet the famous and infamous people from the past and learn their stories.
DEMOCRACY & the AMERICAN REVOLUTION: Learn about the development of an American republican government and the desire and fight for freedom and democracy in Philadelphia, Washington D.C. and Boston.
THE AMERICAN CIVIL WAR: Study the war that divided the United States. Gain an understanding of the opposing perspectives and visit the battlefields of the Civil War. Learn about the lives of American slaves and the role that emancipation played in their quests for freedom.
NATIVE AMERICANS: Meet different people from a variety of Native American Nations. Gain an understanding of their culture by studying their stories, history, beliefs, and customs from the past and today. Visit archeological and historical sites, as well as current American reservations.
THE AMERICAN WEST: Follow the Wagon Trails West to experience the exciting life of American miners, gain an understanding of life of Native Americans, discover the hardships of life in the West for early settlers, and see the vastness of the American West for yourself.
911: An American Perspective regarding September 11, 2001 combined with the sights of New York City.

NATURE & ENVIRONMENTAL STUDIES: Trek through America's natural wonders to gain respect and enhance your understanding of various ecological communities. Focus can be geared
toward stream, alpine, desert, prairie, ocean, or a combination of environments. This course includes camping and hiking in a particular location to allow participants to investigate a specific environment (like the Grand Canyon, Arches National Park, or Rocky Mountain National Park) from a scientific perspective that includes geology, botany, husbandry, and ecology.

AMERICAN TECHNOLOGY: Develop your computer skills and learn about American technological advances with computers and robotics. Build your own robot or other techno toy. Classes are tailored to meet the needs of the group. This course is combined with visits to technological companies and American sightseeing.
