Compass USA is proud to offer our homestay program to American host families and international students. Thanks to the generous spirit of our open-hearted host families, we have hosted over 12,000 students in the USA since 2000.
The safety of our students and host families is our most important priority at Compass USA. Consequently, we have a thorough screening process for our host families that includes a host family visit and interview with all host family members, a background check of all family members 18 years and older and a follow-up phone call and email to confirm the host family interview from our central office. This process is done by fully trained and qualified staff.
In addition, our families and students attend orientations and receive weekly phone calls or personal contact from our local coordinators to ensure that the homestay experience is comfortable for all members.
We take our responsibility to offer safe and enjoyable homestay experiences to our students and families very seriously. Although the state department does not regulate short-term homestay programs, we are in compliance with all mandated homestay regulations.
The recent documentary on Rock Center with Brian Williams did not address short term homestay programs, but the story clearly illustrates the importance of a comprehensive vetting process for host families and caring assistance to our students and families during their homestay experience.
Compass USA is doing everything possible to ensure that we are placing our students in safe and secure homestay environments. We will continue to provide our thorough host family review process and essential homestay support so we can offer this important opportunity to American host families and international students.
